Team Lead, Software Engineering
The "Team Lead" is tasked with leading development initiatives, maintenance of IT systems, and managing day to day operations.
* Please note this is a Hybrid opportunity. The position requires three days of work on site in our Chantilly, VA labroatory. The other two days will account for work from home.
- Lead a team of developers and engineers to delivery high quality software solutions.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively to optimize team performance.
- Mentor team members to enhance their technical and professional skills.
- Oversee the maintenance of IT systems in healthcare diagnostics domain.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Oversee the development, unit testing, system integration testing processes.
- Work with leadership to prioritize projects and align with organizational goals.
- Partner with business users, system architects and other stake holders to deliver solutions that
- meet evolving needs.
- May require 25/30% design, coding, unit testing, and code review as needed.
- Resolution of technical issues in conjunction with team members
- Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instills the principles of this culture in a team of resources
- Responsible for interviewing potential candidates, hiring, training, oversight of daily activities and performance appraisals of his/her employees
Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science/Information Systems or related field
Preferred Work Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in IT with at least 3+ years in leadership role.
- At least 4 years’ experience working in an Agile framework with digital products
- Proficiency in software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and agile methodologies
Strong expertise with system design, software development.
Excellent problem solving, communication and organizational skills.
Able to showcase previous digital product improvements that you owned
Demonstrate how you’ve leveraged Customer Experience processes to act as an advocate for customers
- Experience in healthcare or laboratory systems is highly desirable
Knowledge:
- Customer Experience Management
- Design Thinking
- Business/Digital Analysis
- Healthcare or clinical lab industry knowledge beneficial
Skills:
- Experience with laboratory information systems or similar healthcare IT platforms is preferred.
- Java, J2EE, Angular, Rest APIs, HL7s.
- Agile methodologies
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Beyond the typical communications skills, an ability to tell a story is a must have “what does the data tell us?”
- Ability to build strong and trusted relationships
- Collaborate with others for optimal results
- Ability to work independently and drive for results
