Basic Purpose:

1.     Main responsibilities include interfacing with third party personal property preparer. This includes gathering and analyzing data required for personal property tax reporting for all jurisdictions within the United States in a timely and accurate manner.

2.     Report all liabilities and accrual information to Centralized Accounting in order to ensure that each region accounts for its property tax liabilities on an accurate monthly basis, both real and personal property

3.     Researching all states with personal property requirements to verify what, when and how Quest must report and file its assets.

4.     Interface with field personnel for business license filing requirements and payments on both a centralized and regionalized basis.

5.     Assist with Sales & Use Tax Preparation

Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Individual must maintain accurate lists of all closed and open Quest leased and owned sites to determine property reporting requirements for accurate compliance.

2.     Individual must analyze Corporate Asset Management reporting and map appropriately for tax reporting and upload to third party timely and accurately.

3.     Individual is responsible for maintaining all personal property tax and business license calendars and schedules.

4.     Individual is responsible for maintaining refunds received information and schedules.

5.     Individual is responsible for handling personal property notices, assessor’s calls business license inquiries and coordinating audit requests with the field, third parties and tax manager.

6.     Individual is responsible for maintaining all personal property return, and business license files.

7.     Individual must collect GL data for leased equipment, supplies and non-capitalized equipment.

8.     Individual must collect payroll, headcount, net and gross profit data and other information necessary to file business licenses designated as filed by the Tax Department.

9.     Reviewing all CIP (capital expenditures not yet recorded on books) on annual basis based on jurisdictional roll dates. 

10.  Maintaining interfaces with third party and PeopleSoft SQR and queries necessary for reporting.

11.  Recognizing potential tax savings opportunities and discussing with manager.

12.  Recognizing any inconsistencies or missing source data on books and reporting omissions to manager and related group, i.e. Asset Management, Corporate Real Estate.

13.  Prepare and audit payment requests for third party preparer.

14.  Prepare business license and real estate payment requests.

15.  Overtime may be required during heavying filing periods (usually February through April).

16.  Select group of sales & use tax return (preparation, payment and reconciliation)


Supervision Exercised:

Associate will supervise a third party PPT provider and various third party Real Estate review providers, to ensure that they file returns and meet their contractual responsibilities to Quest Diagnostics Incorporated.


Education Preferred:

•         Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

•         Advanced degree or certification and or experience in the tax fields in multi-state taxation especially in the area  of ad valorem taxation, preferred

•         PC fluency with the Microsoft Office Software, especially Excel, Word and Access in a Windows environment

Work Experience:

•         Prior property tax reporting in a multi-entity, multi-state organization

•         Prior Sales & Use tax reporting in a multi-entity, multi-state organization

•         Experience working in an ERP environment with multiple software packages, especially PeopleSoft and PTMS.

•         Experience with Business Licensure is a plus

•         Real Estate Assessment experience is a plus.

•         Ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy

•         Excellent written and oral communication skills

•         Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

•         Interpersonal skills to work with various associates, third parties and outside departments

•         Able to lift 20 Lbs. (filing boxes)


•         Assist with audits and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
