Position Description

The Senior Director, Technical Labs will provide technical leadership for the Core Lab.  The Sr Director sets standards for operationalizing testing.  S/He works across Eighteen (18) regional labs to improve and standardize testing (service, quality, cost). The position may be based remotely and reports directly to the Executive Director, National Lab Operations.

Responsibilities


•         Provide technical standards, SOP’s, metrics for Core Testing Lab while coordinating with Non-Core lab for consistency.


•         Drive standardization of End-to-End testing across regions – common processes and platforms – platform optimization.


•         Drive requirements and standards in platforms – work closely with automation team to implement long range strategy on automation optimization and automation implementation.


•         In collaboration with CLO and procurement, select equipment platform and laboratory supplies mitigating single supplier points of failures to ensure business continuity.


•          Audit laboratories for non-conformance to policies, procedures, and regulations.  Partner with Medical Quality to develop robust post-implementation verification and compliance program.


•          Define required competencies and proficiency of personnel.


•          Supports development of all training & competency materials for assays


•          Spend time working in regional labs – across multiple regions – to maintain working knowledge of regional testing environment.


•         Work cooperatively with R&D, Franchise and Operations Business Partners to Build capability for new testing processes.


•         Support for equipment selection – establish vendor relations, participate on advisory committees, attend trade shows, partner in contract negotiations.


•         Maintaining vendor relationship in support of the local business unit – liaisons between what is happening locally and nationally.


•          Work with IT resources to ensure RFS requirements are met and coordinate regional validation (UAT) testing & training to ensure requirements are being met.


•          Coordinates resolution of assay/instrument issues with Medical Quality/Procurement/Regions


•         Provides Franchise with expert resource knowledge/guidance on new test/platform implementation


•         Provides recommendations regarding menu & method rationalization


•         Collaborates with Operations Business Partners, Science Experts & Innovation to bring new offerings to market.


•         Ensures department adheres to Document Control policy requirements


•          SOP Standardization/Initiative Implementation tracking


•          Partners with the IT Discipline of Excellence to Oversees development and deployment of all equipment interfaces in area of responsibility.


•         Position expands to include oversight of Pilgrim Document Control & SOP Standardization & Implementation


•         While working with the Production Management Discipline of Excellence, Develop plans to assist Labs in meeting performance Metrics.


•         Work collaboratively with regions to develop and implement Testing processes and standards


•         Monitor lab performance for Cost, quality of service, efficiency, and productivity.  Create benchmark standards and implement standards across all laboratories


•         Ensure Regulatory compliance in area of responsibility.


•          Lead the resolution of Compliance issues identified within area of responsibility


•          Monitor and control Expense and Capital Management within area of responsibility


•          Adherence to budgets and other financial guidelines


•         Oversee Supply Cost utilization and identify areas for cost reduction


•         Cost containment

Qualifications


•         Deep technical expertise in their subject area (Minimum 8-10 years’ experience)


•         Process improvement – understanding of process flow – green belt preferred
