Position Description

The Sr. Director, Market Research & Market Analytics (MRMA) acts as the company’s strategic leader for the development and socialization of insights related to all major markets, regions and customer segments. The role will lead the enterprise’s Market Insights and Market Research functions, delivering market forecasts, deep data modeling, research products and customer experience measures; informing experience design, product development and commercialization, and commercial and marketing strategies and approaches. The Sr. Director will foster a voice-of-customer culture across the enterprise and will act as the champion and go-to-expert for the voice-of-customer and insight pillars of the company’s management system.

The Sr. Director will manage a team of strategic business partners supporting Clinical Franchises, Marketing, Business Development, Corporate Strategy, Regional leadership, Finance and other teams across the company to use analytical insight to help identify winning commercial strategies, maximize return on investments, improve margins and profitability, and ensure priorities are aligned against customer needs. In addition, the Sr. Director will be responsible for driving a culture of insight-driven business decision making through the creation of platforms, tools and processes that drive efficiency and effectiveness across the company’s voice-of-customer collection and analysis activities.

The Sr. Director will have broad responsibilities for managing internal and external resources and will serve as a member of the Marketing Leadership team at Quest, shaping the enterprise market strategy and managing the engagement of the broader marketing organization. This role reports to the Executive Director, Brand & Customer Experience and is based in Secaucus, NJ.

Responsibilities

Market Research

  • Drive the development of primary and secondary research products that inform the design and delivery of customer experience, guide product development and commercialization, and support enterprise priorities and strategies

  • Leverage third party research organizations, syndicated services and vendors to deliver insights that support business cases, portfolio management decisions, strategy validation and tactical effectiveness of marketing plans

  • Research, assess, and disseminate competitive and market intelligence to identify and define new opportunities with potential to enhance our value, current product/service portfolio and its delivery

  • Partner with leadership to develop and implement an expanded Customer Experience measurement program, including CSAT, CES, NPS and Brand Equity trackers

Market Analytics

  • Support strategic initiatives within the Clinical Franchise and Marketing organizations, including participating in the development of long-term strategic planning efforts, financial analyses, and product and market forecasts

  • Utilize publicly available data and internal sources of data to drive deep understanding of customer requirements and marketplace trends and refine the Company’s value propositions

  • Measure impact of marketing programs against customer experience and business KPIs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Business degree in marketing research, mathematics, economics or related field (e.g. MBA, MPH, MS) preferred

  • 8+ years of progressively expanding roles in marketing, market research, business analytics or other related business discipline within a commercial environment

  • Highly proficient in a variety of research techniques segmentation studies, conjoint analyses, attitude and usage surveys, concept evaluation, volumetric modeling or test marketing of new product launches, use of validated techniques for pre-testing communication effectiveness) in product development or marketing. Industry experience in direct-to consumer and business-to-business environments preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of successful results aligned to both strategic and tactical business needs. Produces high quality and effective deliverables in support of insights excellence

  • Experience leading high performing teams and building strong team cultures

  • Superior communication skills including ability to deliver formal business presentations to executive leadership

  • Technologically-savvy, including expertise in traditional and digital business analytics and research tools

  • Ability to comprehend complex financial, legal, regulatory, and strategic issues

  • Strong capabilities in leading others to analyze data and demonstrate quantifiable opportunities or results

  • Excellent project leadership skills to hold team members accountable for delivery on goals and expectations

  • Relevant industry experience (pharma, medical device, healthcare services, consumer, etc.) is preferred

  • Up to 10% business travel required

  • Ability to lead diverse, cross functional teams and in a matrix environment;

  • Ability to serve on Executive Leadership Team of business line (e.g. customer segment, region, etc.)
