Software Solutions Architect, the role:

As a member of the Bioinformatics Engineering Team, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. You will frequently operate at the leading edge of technology and provide leadership to define specifications for significant new projects and design and develop solutions according to those specifications. Recommend and justify major changes to existing products/services/processes. You will be involved in running the complex projects you solution, including management of project timelines, deliverables, and resources during all project phases, from requirements gathering through go-live and project close out.

Job responsibilities:

•         Building and integrating information systems to meet company needs

•         Assessing the systems architecture currently in place and working with technical staff to recommend solutions for improvement

•         Resolving technical problems as they arise

•         Providing supervision and guidance to development teams

•         Continually researching current and emerging technologies and proposing changes where needed

•         Informing various stakeholders about any problems with the current technical solutions being implemented

•         Assessing the business impact that certain technical choices have

•         Providing updates to stakeholders on product development processes, costs, and budgets

•         Main point of contact with Quest’s Enterprise Architecture team

To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

•         B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field

•         At least 7 years of software engineering experience or related

•         At least 5 years identifying and documenting process requirements, developing process flow analysis, data modeling, functional design experience, and creating project plans

•         Expert knowledge of information technology systems and operations related industry standards

•         Experience with solutions applicable to AWS cloud and on-prem computing environments

•         Familiar with using and evaluating appropriate engineering design tools and software packages to design components and solutions

•         Strong interpersonal skills

•         Strong project management skills in an agile environment
