This position will be 100% remote.

Senior Bioinformatics Specialist, the role:

•         •        Provide operational support for IT lab and operational applications, databases, and related systems.

•         •        Develop tools and metrics to support clinical laboratory testing operations.

•         •        Prepare data sets and conduct analyses of clinical genomics and molecular lab information for clinical and other business partners.

•         •        Work with other technical teams to implement workflows for laboratory scientists and health care practitioners.

•         •        Work with other technical teams to automate data and reporting workflows for laboratory scientists and healthcare practitioners.

•         •        Prepare reports and other communications of technical activities related to business objectives such as product/process development and improvement.

•         •        Activities may be focused individual projects or, more usually, assignments as a member of a project team, often working closely with other Software Developers, R&D bench scientists, Genetic Counselors, Operations Scientists, and other technical business partners.

Job responsibilities:

•         Collaborate with Genetic Counselors to provide response to client requests for specific clinical genomic data analyses.

•         •Design and execute queries, data aggregation and cleaning procedures, statistical and visual analyses, and prepare reports summarizing data and findings. 
Work with Laboratory Scientists to develop and report ongoing operational metrics to support NGS and non-NGS based clinical laboratory testing.

•         •Identify trends in assay data such as allele frequencies.

•         Develop metrics, methods and reporting for weekly/monthly trend analyses such as Levy-Jennings, Coverage/Q score for NGS, positivity rates for all molecular genetics tests, etc. 

•         Create workload dashboards and similar tools to provide critical operational awareness for lab supervisors. 

•         Engage with software engineers, Enterprise IT and Analytics, and other technical teams to deliver on-demand reports, automate data and reporting workflows, and provide self-service analysis and reporting tools to laboratory directors, scientists, and genetic counselors.

•          •Successful performance of job duties contributes to the success of Advanced Diagnostics objective to enhance the customer experience and to drive operational efficiency.

•         •        Collaborate with cross-functional partners (QA, Business Analyst, Scientists, Tech Pubs, etc.) individually and in team environment.

To qualify, the ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

•         Requires BS degree in engineering, life science, computer science, or related discipline.

•         Requires BS with 1-2 years of experience, or MS with experience in an industrial or academic setting working with clinical and biological data and underlying technologies including databases, query/scripting/ programming languages, and other bioinformatics software development life cycle and data analysis tools.

•         At least 1 year of experience working in a regulated industrial life sciences environment.
