Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Support Cost Finance, this role will have two primary areas of responsibility:

- Finance Business Partner to Quest for Health Equity (Q4HE) VP/GM (and direct reports) with $100M+ spend across multiple years (including role of finance business partner to Trustees of the Quest Diagnostics Foundation); and

- Finance Business Partner to the CFO and Finance Leadership Team.

The individual in this role will provide moderate to complex financial analysis and Q4HE grant proposal development and support to business partners, assisting with overall strategy and delivery of organizational requirements. The Manager, Q4HE and Support Cost Finance delivers insight to financial performance and execution of overall process and internal controls associated with building and assessing Outlook, Forecast and annual budgets with delivery of required actions to target expectations, as applicable. This role has no direct reports, however, requires significant collaboration across multiple areas within and outside of Quest to successfully achieve objectives. This role will ideally be based in Secaucus, NJ (on a hybrid (2-3 days per week in-office) schedule), however will consider remote / non-Secaucus based candidates.

Q4HE:

•         Engaged business partner with Q4HE VP/GM and Q4HE team in the development of grant proposals. Includes substantive interactions with external organizations seeking grant funding from Q4HE / Quest Diagnostics Foundation, assisting Q4HE team in building proposals and business plans to be assessed for approval by Q4HE Oversight Committee,    SMT Sub-Committee and Quest Diagnostics Foundation. Engage in post approval contracting phase with the grantee as needed.

•         With the Director, Support Cost Finance, have Q4HE Oversight Committee approval of proposals responsibilities for finance.

•         Coordinating with the Q4HE VP/GM and Director, Support Cost Finance, prepare and communicate monthly financial performance updates (Q4HE and Quest Foundation) to Q4HE leadership, including the SMT Sub-Committee Overseeing Q4HE.

•         Interact closely with Q4HE VP/GM and Q4HE team in preparing accurate and timely operating and capital budgets, analyze actual results vs. budget, identify risks / opportunities to be incorporated into monthly outlooks (including a focus on expenses qualifying for specials treatment) and monitor headcount statistics.

•         Responsible for accurate and timely monthly financial close, coordinating closely with Corporate Accounting, Centralized Accounting and other individuals as needed.

•         Coordinate with Treasury and Accounts Payable to facilitate timely payment of approved grants, ensuring adherence to Q4HE and Quest Diagnostics Foundation Authorization Matrix, respectively.

•         Provide assistance to internal and external tax practitioners in submissions of Quest Diagnostics Foundation annual tax filings.

•        Ongoing evaluation of Q4HE and Quest Foundation policies, procedures and processes (including internal controls), driving best practices to deliver Q4HE objectives effectively and efficiently. Recommending and driving change to established policies, procedures and processes, as and when needed, to facilitate Q4HE and      Quest Diagnostics Foundation objectives.

Finance Function:

•         Interact closely with Finance Leadership Team in preparing accurate and timely operating and capital budgets, analyze actual results vs. budget, identify risks / opportunities to be incorporated into monthly forecasts, monitor headcount statistics and drive best practices around cost analytics to facilitate Quest Diagnostics overall growth and              financial objectives.

•         Responsible for accurate and timely monthly financial close for finance function, coordinating closely with Corporate Accounting, Centralized Accounting and other individuals as needed.

•         Engage Senior level staff regularly to drive behaviors around costs and headcount. The Manager, Q4HE and Support Cost Finance will be tasked with understanding the finance function drivers of spend (in the context of Companywide business needs), balanced against the need for spending controls, influencing appropriate levels of spend in all                  areas, including expenses and capital. Recommend appropriate cost control initiatives, and drive adherence to these and other announced initiatives including hiring controls, spending controls, and capital spend request process.

•         Enhance value-added monthly reporting packages provided to Finance leaders, incorporating run rate analyses, for the functional leaders that will drive behavior. Attend Finance Leadership Team meetings as needed to update on spending trends, watch-outs, issues, and drive actions to ensure appropriate behavior. Also, drive enhanced                          understanding of spend levels with Director, Support Cost Finance.

•         Interacts frequently with Senior Manager, Support Cost Finance, Corporate FP&A, Centralized Accounting and Corporate Accounting.

•         Drive and support the development and implementation of departmental (Support Cost Finance and Finance-wide) goals and organization structure.

•         Respond to ad-hoc requests (e.g. company-wide spend, Support Cost trends, and headcount reporting).

Education:

•         4 year college degree in Finance or Accounting

•         MBA / CPA or other advanced degree is a plus

Work Experience:

•         Preferred 6+ Years Relevant Finance Experience

•         Experience with Hyperion Planning (Workforce Plan / PLAN)

•         Strong proficiency in Essbase financial reporting

•         Strong computer skills – Microsoft Office, with emphasis on Excel, and PowerPoint.
