Diagnostic Laboratory of Oklahoma - Oklahoma City, Oklahoma - 2:00pm-10pm

Main Duties: 

The evening/night shift Supervisor has the responsibility for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of all technical and/or operational activities and staff members on the second and third shifts.  Responsible for performing duties so as to operate the lab with the highest quality safety and integrity, and in an efficient, economical and businesslike manner are of utmost importance. 

Plans, assigns and directs work in the laboratory. Mentors and supports employees in their responsibilities in QC, testing, and ensures they receive training in supervisory skill development.  Ensures quality control and compliance procedures are followed. Oversees staffing of all personnel on the second and third shifts in the laboratory.  Reviews test performance, drives process and project management, and prepares and submits required reports to meet established deadlines. Resolves problems through interaction with clients.

Coordinates and monitors EHS programs.  Ensures EHS regulatory standards and safety procedures are followed on the evening and night shifts.

Must be able to work closely with Manager, dayshift/technical supervisor, blood bank supervisor, processing supervisor and Point of Care Manager to ensure teamwork between shifts.  Must work closely with DLO QA to ensure compliance with QA program on evening and night shifts.

 Able to meet physician’s needs by problem solving and resolution of their concerns. Attend monthly meetings as needed by the hospital including but not limited to JCAHO inspections teams, Patient Care, and Med Quality as required by the hospital.

 Supervisor must be a working bench tech willing to work hours on both the evening and night shifts, to make sure employees are trained and problems are resolved.  Review Quality Controls records weekly and monthly. Able to follow implemented QA program.

Required Knowledge: BS degree in Medical Technology to meet CLIA standards for a laboratory supervisor.
  Applicant must demonstrate a broad knowledge of the technical aspects of the tests performed in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology and Serology.  Applicant should demonstrate a willingness to stay abreast of the latest innovations in test methodologies. Varied shifts to meet staffing needs.

Required Experience: Minimum – 5 years in a clinical laboratory;  2 years supervisory experience preferred, but not required.

Special Requirement: MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification.   Must demonstrate  interpersonal skills to gain   cooperation with other departments and foster continuous improvements.  Must be flexible and available based on staffing requirements, including weekends, and holidays. Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills and be able to address client concerns and employees in a professional manner.  Makes independent decisions and handle multiple priorities in a high volume setting.  Able to organize and lead projects both within the work group and with cross-functional groups.
