Basic Purpose:

  • Assist the VP Internal Audit in the annual Internal Audit IT risk assessment and in developing the annual IT audit plan.
  • Take ownership and actively manage the external IT co-sourcing arrangement to ensure efficient and effective use of their annual services.
  • Provide oversight and input to all information technology (IT) internal control audits conducted by the external IT co-sourcing provider.
  • Conduct individual audits and reviews as necessary.
  • Identify changes in the IT environment which would necessitate modification of the annual audit plan and implement in consultation with the VP Internal Audit.
  • Prepare audit reports for issuance to management and Audit & Finance Committee
  • Lead special project engagements as requested, including due diligence and reviews of processes under development.
  • Act as a liaison between audit staff and IT to maximize the effectiveness of financial operational audits.
  • Extend the use of technology by Internal Audit to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department.
  • Develop department managers and seniors, including individual’s objective setting, performance reviews, training requirements, and establishing development plans, which will promote the migration of managers and seniors to other roles within the company.
  • Work with managers in the department to set IT scope and objectives for all audits performed by the department.
  • Manage the success of the Internal Audit rotational program by recruiting top talent, developing staff potential, and liaising with other Business groups about the rotation program in Internal Audit.
  • Assists the VP Internal Audit with the negotiation and execution of the annual external IT co-sourcing agreement.
  • Develops budget and forecasts for the IT Audit function.

IT Internal Control & Policy

  • Assists the Director of ICP in the annual planning and completion of the IT SOX requirements.
  • Hands-on leader of the Company’s IT internal control assessment process.  This includes but may not be limited to the following: 
  • Facilitate and improve upon the comprehensive risk assessment process established in the Company.  This includes, providing fundamental guidance and standards for ensuring that the actions taken by internal control process owners are adequate to support the quarterly and year-end management assertions in the assurance of an effective internal control environment.
  • Analyze and provide feedback on business and operational risk assessments.
  • Develop IT technical solutions to perform control monitoring and assessment and capture all observations and apply a consistent set of guidelines to evaluate them.
  • Provide advisory support to the Internal Control Process Owners related to an effective approach to remediation.
  • Monitor and manage the remediation progress and provide oversight related to retesting procedures.
  • Capture performance measurements to share with Senior Director Internal Control & Policy and senior management.
  • Encourage internal control process owners to identify inefficiencies and plan improvements in the control environment by fully leveraging the capabilities of the COSO internal control framework.
  • Manages relationship with PwC on IT internal control concepts by effectively documenting in writing and communicating the Company’s position on such matters to PwC when necessary.  Resolves any differences of opinion proactively to avoid late surprises or issues around reporting periods.
  • Responsible for the IT related content of the Company’s policy document titled, Monitoring and Assessment of Internal Control Over Financial Reporting.  Ensures that it is up-to-date and remains relevant to the Company’s business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience.  A combination of IT operations, IT audit, and project management in background is necessary.  This experience should include having played a leading or support role in delivering or reviewing system application conversions and integration efforts.  
  • CPA, CISA or MBA required
  • High Potential individual with higher level of business or technical savvy than peers
  • Ability to move out of Internal Audit in 2.5 to 4.0 years (willingness to relocate a plus)
  • Six Sigma/TQM experience a plus
  • 25-30% travel (both international and domestic)
