Position Description

Reporting the Vice-President of Advanced Diagnostics (ADx) R&D, the Director, R&D Growth Programs – Advanced Diagnostics has accountability for leading the ADx R&D organization in its execution and delivery of Diagnostic Services growth programs which enable high quality healthcare solutions. The Director will organize and align strategic priorities with members of the senior leadership team, manage internal communications and messages, and own (or identify owners) for special projects to ensure overall efficient processes and operations. The Director must have strong strategic business acumen, be proactive, have strong influencing skills, and the ability to balance multiple projects.

Core Responsibilities

•         In full alignment with the ADx Leadership Team and Corporate PMO office, prioritizes key projects and management of critical issues to ensure the attention and focus of the ADx R&D Leadership team.  Facilitates decision making by striving to provide full information at point of decision and by serving as a reliable, trusted. and fair channel for all stakeholders. Ensures alignment and timelines support the overall business strategy.

•         Leads strategy adoption and integration by ensuring alignment of objectives, priorities and messaging are in-sync across the ADx R&D leadership team and ensuring the processes are prioritized, adequately resourced, and designed to work smoothly to drive growth. May partner with internal communications or Human Resources to create and maintain messaging opportunities.

•         Drives development and implementation of the ADx R&D group operating plan and serves as the primary liaison with finance in planning and analysis in support of the group.

•         Drives the development/implementation of tools and processes required for ADX R&D to operate at a high level of efficiency, discipline, and speed.

•         Liaison to the PMO office and with the Scientific Leads works in coordination with the Clinical Franchise priorities for roadmap project completion.  Oversees the ADx “Go Big” growth plan across the ADx R&D sub-specialty areas.

•         Helps drive growth initiatives in ADx R&D from concept to delivery and organizes appropriate decision-making, prioritization, and delivery.

•         Using QMS tools, has strategic oversight of all projects by establishing a reliable, sustainable operating rhythm to the support the leadership team and support teams.

•         Coordinates strategic meetings, documentation, and deliverables.

•         Sets the pace/cadence for meeting key timelines, manages expectations, and ensures all collateral is ready for review.


•         BA/BS required. An advanced degree (MBA, PhD, MS) would be a plus.

•         6+ years of relevant experience in project management, with at least 3 years leading technical/clinical growth projects.

•         Demonstrated track record of success in project management and continuous process improvement.

•         Knowledge and understanding of the trends and forces shaping the health care delivery system, the provision of care, and other emerging issues in healthcare management.

•         Demonstrated flexibility and initiative to effectively lead change efforts to respond to marketplace or organizational changes.

•         Superior interpersonal and communication skills.

•         Highly developed ability to work effectively with a variety of constituencies, and ability to lead and manage through influence and delegation.

•         Demonstrated fiscal management capabilities including effective expense reduction, utilization, management, and budget control.

•         Demonstrated capabilities in cross-functional process assessment, problem- solving and process improvement.

•         Advanced proficiency in project management tools (MS project, Clarity), data analytics (Tableau) and MS office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
