Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for working on Oracle database activities for the QECS Development team, in coordination with the Senior DBA.  This activity will include work on stored procedures, optimizing databases, writing/debugging Shell, Perl, and Python scripts.  Additionally, this position will be responsible for Production Support work for 50% of their time.  This includes database administration and support for the Quanum Enterprise Content Solutions, a mission critical, client/server application involving Windows and Web user interfaces, document management, workflow, Oracle, UNIX servers, and hierarchical storage management.  Support also includes embedded third party software and hardware.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•   Provide daily Oracle database monitoring and tuning.
•   Development and maintenance of PL/SQL code.
•   Ability to write and debug shell scripts
•   Maintaining best practices on managing systems and services across all environments
•   Fault finding, analysis of issues
•   Planning and testing QECS upgrades and platform migrations, and remote assistance with installation of QECS upgrades.
•   Remote database administration and assistance in customer Database Cleanup process.
•   Handle day-to-day maintenance for Oracle database, troubleshooting, and proactive performance tuning.
•   Ensure quick database recovery in case of a disaster.
•   Perform maintenance programming for existing versions. 
•   Perform custom programming at customer request, including but not limited Custom reports to meet customer’s needs.
•   Assists teams with complex SQL statement creation and tuning.
•   Carrying an on-call phone in a group rotation.


Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent on-the-job experience is preferred.

Work Experience:

Experience (4-5 year) with development or support of a large Oracle client/server application.

Technical Skills preferred:

Linux Operating Systems (preferably Red Hat) Windows Operating systems Technical Customer Support Server hardware and Peripherals PC hardware and Peripherals Integration Experience (HL7, Perl Scripts, MySQL)
