Job Description

Scientist, Certifying Negative - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

Basic Purpose:

As a Negative Certifying Scientist working within the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory, the incumbent will use their on-the-job training to review and release negative drug testing results.   Required to work independent of immediate supervision and assume the initiative for prompt and accurate certification with appropriate documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness and forensic and scientific defensibility of drug testing results.   

Education:

 Bachelor’s degree with a major in Biology, Chemistry, Physical Science, or Medical Technology.  Alternative major –bachelor’s degree in other major with a minimum of sixteen (16) semester hours in Chemistry, which include at least six semester hours in inorganic chemistry and are acceptable towards a major in chemistry, sixteen (16) semester hours in Biology which are pertinent to the medical sciences and three (3) semester hours of Mathematics to meet New York State (NYS) requirements. Note, any alternative major must have college transcripts reviewed and approved prior to employment offer by QA department to ensure science education meets regulatory requirements.

Experience:

• Minimum one (1) year laboratory experience required.  Two years preferred.
• Forensic toxicology laboratory experience preferred.
• Training and experience in reviewing and reporting test results, maintenance of chain of custody, and understanding proper remedial action in response to problems that may arise is preferred.
• General systems knowledge and data analysis

Scientist, Certifying Limited - $5,000 Sign-On Bonus

Basic Purpose:

As a Limited Certifying Scientist working within the Forensic Toxicology Drug Testing Laboratory the incumbent is responsible for reviewing and releasing negative, positive and rejected non-regulated drug testing results.  Required to work independent of immediate supervision and assume the initiative for prompt and accurate certification with appropriate documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and forensic and scientific defensibility of drug testing results.  

Education:
