The Business Analyst Manager is responsible for overseeing and developing business analyst staff, and acts as facilitator and a liaison between the business and IT for all aspects of business and product changes. This position requires a broad understanding of business, technology, and requirements elicitation and management concepts, as well as prior people-management experience with BAs. The Business Analyst Manager is accountable for resource and capacity planning across the BA team, and coaches/mentors the BA staff during the project execution process to drive the creation of business and functional requirements documentation, while contributing subject matter expertise. The Business Analyst Manager may serve as a primary analyst on companywide program initiatives and complex projects, contributes to level of effort (LOE) estimates, and participates in project planning activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and manage multiple BA team members, assisting with staffing, resource allocation, coaching/mentoring, and performance evaluation activities.
Collaborate with the PMO, Product Management, Solution Architects, Business Partners, Application Development, and Software Quality Assurance Teams to understand scope, solutions, constraints, and risks.
Oversee staff, Senior and Lead BAs in eliciting requirements using a variety of methods including: interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, surveys, site visits, use cases, scenarios, and business workflow analysis.
Assist BAs with the management and prioritization of requirements gathered from multiple sources, scope management, and stakeholder management techniques.
Communicate and escalate identified project-related risks and collaborate in developing mitigation strategies.
Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal customers to analyze information and business workflow, to deliver busines process models, functional requirements/user stories, use cases, and user interface designs.
Collaborate with business units to understand their strategic roadmaps and how they will execute them.
Serve as the conduit between the customer community (internal and external customers) and software development teams who consume requirements produced by the BA team.
Accountabilities:
Manage and review BA deliverables including but not limited to:
Current and future state business process models, and gap analyses
Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and use cases
Functional specifications: Agile user stories and functional requirements documents
Requirement Traceability Matrices
Assist in managing the Peer Review process across the BA team
Oversee BA support of UAT phases, including working closely with product business owners to facilitate effective UAT execution
Collaborate with the Development and QA teams to assess and triage defects
May serve as a primary Project Analyst on one or more large scope or complex projects
Determine work breakdown, contribute to level of effort (LOE) estimates, and participate in project planning activities
Facilitate discussions and manage conflicts to resolution
Facilitate BA process improvements, change management, and metric reporting activities
Contribute to strategic planning efforts including industry assessment, competitive analysis, and budget planning
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
10+ years of IT Business Analysis experience, with 5+ years of Lead Business Analysis or BA Management experience
Extensive IT and/or Clinical Lab Industry experience
Working knowledge of SDLC phases and methodologies (Waterfall and Agile)
Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Demonstrates strong communication, customer service, and negotiation skills
Demonstrates strong leadership, people development, and change management skills
Demonstrates exceptional presentation and facilitation skills to cross-functional business audiences
Ability to communicate technical issues in a non-technical manner to a diverse audience
Ability to drive change and innovation
Ability to handle large / complex projects
Experience in coaching/mentoring team members, including preparing and executing training and career development plans
