Basic Purpose:

1.     Main responsibilities include managing the sales & use tax process.  This includes, reviewing files and uploads, as well as analysis of the monthly use tax accrual

2.     Individual will also be responsible for all compliance for significant jurisdictions from preparing, filing, payment, reconciliation, and audit for all transactional taxes (sales & use, property and select excise/licensure)

3.     Researching exemptions and developing tax positions

4.     Interface with Corporate and Regional personnel for transactional tax matters

5.     Assist with mentoring and training the transactional tax team

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     This individual will review adjusting journal entries and required reversals for the entire company

2.     Sending tax adjustments to all stakeholders, including Asset Management, Centralized Accounting and Regional Finance

3.     Maintaining Departmental Control Charts for his/her jurisdictions

4.     Staying current on transactional tax law changes and regulations

5.     Interfacing and participating on projects with Senior Tax Management

6.     Supporting Tax Manager on ad hoc projects

7.     Developing and analyzing data

8.     Preparing monthly journal entries to reverse and accrue for proper taxation as well as allocating entries to accrue use tax to correct jurisdictions and legal entities

9.     Assist in Tax Software upgrades

10.  Making and developing improvement strategies for transactional tax processes

11.  Active participant on all Innovation Projects

12.  Reconciliation of Bank statements to Bank of America ACH tax payments

Supervision Exercised:

Associate will supervise the Tax accountants on the team and mentor them in tax matters as well as assist with on boarding.



Education Preferred:

•         Bachelor’s Degree in accounting

•         Advanced degree or CPA and extensive transactional tax experience in multi-state, multi-entity taxation

•         PC fluency with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel, Access, Vertex Tax Software, and ERP systems as well as the ability to manage large data sets in Excel and Access

Work Experience:        

•         At least five years of prior Sales & Use tax reporting in a multi-entity, multi-state organization

•         Experience working in an ERP environment with multiple software packages, especially PeopleSoft and Essbase

•         Experience with Business Licensure, Excise and Property Taxes

•         Ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy

•         Excellent written and oral communication skills

•         Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

•         Interpersonal skills to work with various associates, third parties and outside departments


•         Assist with audits and Sarbanes Oxley requirements
