Job Description

Tax Accountant - Hybrid

Basic Purpose:

1.     Main responsibilities will be sales & use tax and personal property tax compliance for assigned jurisdictions.  This includes filing, payment, reconciliation, and audit for all transactional taxes (sales & use, property and select excise/licensure).

2.     Assist in researching exemptions and developing tax positions.

3.     Interface with Corporate and Regional personnel for transactional tax matters.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

1.     Maintaining Departmental Control Charts for his/her jurisdictions.

2.     Staying current on transactional tax law changes and regulations.

3.     Interfacing and participating on projects with Senior Indirect Tax Management.

4.     Supporting Tax Manager on ad hoc projects

5.     Developing and analyzing data.

6.     Preparing monthly journal entries to reverse and accrue for proper taxation as well as allocating entries to accrue use tax to correct jurisdictions and legal entities.

7.     Making and developing improvement strategies for transactional tax processes.

8.     Active participant on assigned Innovation Projects.


Education Preferred:

•         Bachelor’s Degree in accounting

•         Some transactional tax experience in multi-state, multi-entity taxation

•         PC fluency with Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel, Access, Vertex Tax Software, and ERP systems as well as the ability to manage large data sets in Excel and Access

Work Experience:

•         At least a year of prior Sales & Use tax reporting in a multi-entity, multi-state organization

•         Experience working in an ERP environment with multiple software packages, especially PeopleSoft and Essbase.

•         Experience with Business Licensure, Excise and Property Taxes
